Columbia Crest Columbia Valley Shiraz

Continuing on in our reviews of the Shiraz, the next selection comes to us from the Columbia Valley in Eastern Washington. A more well known offering, this Columbia Crest version should not be overlooked merely because of it's ubiquity. Indeed, one might argue the wine is so popular largely due to the merit of its flavor. This Shiraz has a less overpowering flavor than many in its family. The version we tasted was of Grand Estates, the middle-tier version, which can be purchased for around a dozen dollars a bottle, or even cheaper. Rich with tannins, oak, and spices, this entry goes well with strong flavored food, especially beef. It also stands suitably well on its own.
